Statement from UA President Pat Pitney on Governor Dunleavy's proposed FY24 budget

Governor Dunleavy’s budget represents continued stability for the university and a good starting point for our discussions with the legislature. We appreciate the investment in the university system.

While it provides the critical foundation for our high-quality academic, workforce development, and research programs needed to fuel ’s economy, the budget does not include important priority requests including growing fixed costs such as enhancing our cyber security, managing rising property insurance rates and urgent deferred maintenance projects.

These needs are critical, and as the upcoming legislative session gets underway, we will continue to work with the Governor and legislature to advocate for these priorities.

Stability in state funding, coupled with our work to grow student enrollment and expand industry partnerships, builds our financial sustainability, and strengthens confidence among students, partners, state leaders, and ’s communities, both urban and rural.
